This week the upper unit will begin looking at data using Tinker Plots. This a data analysis program designed specifically for students in grades 4–8. Students will be able to explore and analyze data that they collect themselves or find on the Internet. They will learn to create their own graphs and tables. We will talk about what data is appropriate to collect with regard to our population here at McGuffey and about how data can be collected.
Upper unit science students continued observing and recording their bread mold experiment, and began studying yeast. They observed yeast dry, and then added warm water to the dried yeast, observing immediately and again in five minutes. We will build on this experiment over the next few weeks.
