Upper Elementary Math

4th and 5th graders are continuing their work with addition.  Most 4th graders are working with 4 to 5 digit numbers.  5th graders are working with numbers up to 9,999,999,999.  6th graders have moved on to their review of subtraction with re-grouping (borrowing).  Students are using the Stamp Game and Small/Large Bead Frames as necessary but many students have progressed to doing the work without the aide of the Montessori materials (pencil and paper only – abstractly).

7th graders are getting their first taste of Algebra.  This week we are working with the Distributive Property and Simplification.  Algebra 1 students have just finished their work with distance formula and those pesky train and plane problems.
