Trip to Hueston Woods

A week ago the whole school went back in time to the Ordovician Period! We visited Hueston Woods and hiked across the dam to below the spillway, and explored that area of Four Mile Creek. Students collected fossils from about 450 millions of years ago of Brachiopods, Pelecypods and Bryozoans while enjoying the autumn weather. The hillside displayed the various layers of the hundreds of millions of years of sediment from when this area was a shallow sea bed to today. Everyone had fun, and some of us even got our feet a little wet!
