The primary unit has been hard at work studying their skeletal system. This week they did an experiment where they placed several bones in vinegar to see what the result would be. They observed and recorded the differences in the bone. The acid in the vinegar dissolved the calcium in the bone, allowing it to bend. One of the bones even broke, exposing some squishy stuff, which lead to a meaty discussion of bone marrow!
Students then spent some time exploring our extensive bone collection, making educated guesses about what kind of animal they may have belonged to.
