When McGuffey students move from kindergarten to first grade, they graduate from Kindermusik class to an Orff Method music class. Carl Orff is the composer of Carmina Burana who developed a method of teaching music that goes hand in hand with the Montessori philosophy. This week the brand new first graders learned how working as a group creatively can be more interesting and fun than working solo, how to move to the beat of different rhythms played on a drum, and that the voice can tell a story without using words.
