On February 14 the intermediate and upper units began trading stocks on the NYSE. The Stock Market Game has begun. Students were divided into teams of 4 and “given” $100,000 to invest as they wanted. The object of the game is, of course, to end up with as much money as possible at the end of 10 weeks. During this 10 week period, we will be learning about how the stock market works, what stocks, bonds, and mutual funds are, and how current events can influence the price of a stock. Parents are encouraged to talk about all this with their children.
Last year one of the McGuffey teams ranked in the top three and received a prize by the sponsoring organization!
The Stock Market Game is a simulation endorsed by Wall Street.
