Some people are morning people and some are not. That is why at McGuffey our morning activities are designed to give children a choice.
Usually when the children first come in, they head straight for the chart to read the “question of the day”. After recording their opinions, they come into the classroom where there are daily math sheets to complete if they are in a hurry to “get to work”, or they may spend a few minutes talking to the teachers (Carla and Janet) or their friends. Others are finding or reading good books. After a few minutes the room magically becomes quiet. It’s so fun and rewarding to look around the room and see all the students engaged. We find this to be a relaxing way to begin the morning.
