Peter, The Wolf, and Other Animals

Having a working knowledge of famous pieces of music not only helps one have cultural knowledge, taking time out from creating music helps us learn to listen mindfully. Grade 1 is studying “Carnival of the Animals”  and grades 2,3, & 4 are studying “Peter and the Wolf.”

All grades used “listening maps” to help guide them and answer questions such as: was this part slow or fast? High or low? What instruments were playing during this part? Why?

Making origami wolves turned into a wonderful final project for “The Peter and the Wolf” unit. We had entire packs listening along with us!
