On Tuesday evening, October 11, students, parents, their families and teachers took part in the first annual McGuffey Math Night. The first activity that students took part in was the Guessing Jars, where students estimated the quantity of items in a jar. The winning guesses got to take the delicious contents of the jars home! Then everyone was able to pick from other activities such as pentominoes, tangrams, puzzles, and geometric hats. In the pavilion, students had the opportunity to make a table out of newspapers and then test it to see how much weight it could hold. Everyone also enjoyed pizza and ice cream sundaes provided by Michelle Patterson.
Math night was a rousing success! Thanks to all the families that came out to participate and tried all our of different math challenges, and to all the teachers that spent countless hours organizing.
