Reading comprehension activities take on more meaning as we read about how civilization began with The Stone Age, The Sumerians, the Babylonians, The Assyrians, The Egyptians, The Phoenicians, and Hebrews and currently the Greeks, where we are now in Social Studies. We have used activities from Social Studies to enhance our Language Arts work. Greek mythology is an excellent and interesting way to help us with our descriptive writing. We are able to use literary devices like exaggeration, onomatopoeia, personification, just to name a few. Our next piece of literature to explore will be The Odyssey by Homer.
