Janet Kretschmer, Founder, Primary, and Art
Janet Kretschmer began her teaching career in East Los Angeles. After staying home for a few years with her children, she became a classroom teacher at the School in Rose Valley in Moylan, Pennsylvania. A move to Oxford brought her to Miami University’s McGuffey Laboratory School where she was a teacher until its closing in June of 1983. That year she became part of an effort to open a new school to carry on the McGuffey experience and was asked to become the founding head of McGuffey Foundation School. After a very busy summer for a large group of talented and dedicated families, McGuffey opened right in time for the 1983-84 school year. In June of 2005 she “retired” from the position of Head of School to became “just” a teacher until 2010. She is now a beloved volunteer in the Primary and Art rooms.
Janet has three grown children and all six of her grandchildren currently attend McGuffey!
