Last week in Primary we took some time in the afternoon to harvest the rest of the fruits and vegetables that have been growing in our garden. The garden was planted last spring, and the children have been so patient and careful with our growing plants. We brought in cabbage, green peppers, banana peppers, and honeydew melons. Soon we will place the pumpkins we grew on our porch in a celebration of fall. Keep an eye out for them!
We passed around plates of each item for children to taste. Green peppers and banana peppers were surprisingly big hits. Children enjoyed sampling the cabbage as well; many of them wanted to try what caterpillars think is so delicious.
The honeydew melon was the most popular, and we even had enough left to add to snack the next day. Congratulations to our young gardeners on a successful harvest!
