On Monday, September 19, 2011, the 5th and 6th graders went to the First Financial Bank at Stewart Square. Students had the opportunity to see themselves on the bank security cameras, visit the Safe Deposit Box vault, and see the money counting machines in action. The highlight of the visit was a stop in the bank vault where each student had to opportunity to hold $500 in cash. Pam Dunaway, the branch manager was our wonderful tour guide. At the end, of our tour, Pam gave each student a gold $1 coin as a memento.
This field trip is one of many that we hope to take as part of our participation in the Stock Market Game. First Financial has graciously offered to have the head of their investment division come and speak with the students about investing and mutual funds and bonds in preparation for the SMG.
