McGuffey’s Upper Unit students are learning the art of ‘writing beautifully’ by using calligraphy. The word calligraphy comes from the Greek words for ‘beautiful writing’—kallos and graphos. By learning about and practicing decorative handwriting, students can gain an appreciation for beautiful script and work toward developing their own personal, elegant writing style.

Caren Schlichter, our special guest, joined us for a calligraphy presentation. As an experienced calligrapher, she shared with us techniques for writing letters to help us write our own names ‘beautifully.’
